Shenzhen, China, August 22: KC Panels completed a mockup featuring curved stone panels for cladding. The traditional stone works with curved stone must use thick stone blocks and CNC / handcraft into the ideal shape, resulting in a very heavy piece that is difficult to install on-site. Due to its weight, it is also risky for exterior cladding.
Applying the new technology of thin stone lamination, KCP successfully transformed the thick material into a 3mm thin limestone veneer and laminated it onto aluminum honeycomb panels as a substrate for reinforcement. It can be curved as per the designers’ intent while only weighing around 15KG/M2, which significantly reduces the overall weight and therefore takes way less installation time and cost. On the other hand, it saves a significant amount of natural stone material for such a curve-shaped work. Overall, such an application lowers overall costs in terms of both the material itself and the cost of installation.
